If you're looking for a reliable domain register to get started with, Yahoo is that. Also if you're a new customer, their introductory $1.99 for the first year offer is definitely a great deal. Sometimes you just want to register a domain name to hold on to it and not build the web page yet. Yahoo is great for that. However, after the first year the price bumps up quite a bit. At this point I'd recommend transferring your domain to another provider such as Godaddy, as I did. Yahoo is a great place to start though to register your domain name... especially if you want to save some money like me.

I think if you're like me, it is probably the cheap $1.99 price that will attract you to registering your domain with Yahoo. You really can't beat that price for one year of domain registration. It comes with all the standard bells and whistles you expect from a domain registrar.

Wanted a cheap domain name and that's what I got. The private registration add-on is a bit pricey compared to the domain itself. You'll have to be the judge of whether or not you need to protect your info. For me I have a po box so it's not a big deal.

$1.99 is a good deal but the regular offer is just ok. $35 for renewal is kind of steep...
